Painting & Exterior Improvements

Exterior Painting, done with precision

Exterior painting protects siding, trim, fascia, doors and masonry from sun, heat and storm moisture. The work starts with a pressure wash, then scraping failed paint, sanding edges, replacing small areas of damaged trim where needed, caulking joints and priming bare wood or patched spots. Only then do finish coats go on. South- and west-facing walls often show chalking and fading first, so we pay extra attention to those elevations. We choose coatings suited to the surface and the climate. Rotted wood or failing siding should be repaired before paint, and painting over it only hides the problem for a season or two.

Common questions about exterior painting

How do I know it is time to repaint?

Chalky residue, fading, cracked caulk, peeling and bare wood at trim edges are the usual signs. Catching it early costs less than repairing rot later.

Can you paint in hot weather?

We schedule around heat and direct sun, since paint applied to a very hot surface can dry too fast and finish poorly. Early starts and shaded sides first are common.

Why does paint fade so quickly on some sides of a building?

South- and west-facing walls take the most direct sun and heat in Texas, and UV breaks down the binder in paint. Those elevations usually need attention sooner than shaded sides, and a quality exterior coating helps slow it down.

How much of a paint job is preparation?

Most of it. Washing, scraping loose paint, repairing damaged surfaces, caulking gaps and priming bare spots decide how long the finish lasts. Skipping prep is the usual reason paint peels early.
