Ground Preparation & Grading in North Texas

Good lawns and good drainage both start with the ground.

Sod, Turf & Lawn Installation

Ground Preparation & Grading, done with precision

Good lawns and good drainage both start with the ground. Grading reshapes the surface so water moves away from the house, and preparation loosens and levels the soil so turf or plants can root. We use hand tools and small equipment to cut high spots, fill low areas, break up compaction and set slopes that shed water, generally a gentle fall away from the foundation. In North Texas, clay soils crack in drought and swell in rain, and builder grading often settles over the years. Limestone ground in Hood County can limit how deep we can work. We also check for buried debris. This is prep work for sod, turf, landscaping or drainage, and is not a replacement for engineered earthwork on large sites.

Common questions about ground preparation & grading

Can you fix water pooling near my foundation?

Often we can regrade to shed water away. If the issue is larger than grading, we recommend drains or other solutions.

Do you bring in soil?

Yes when needed to fill low areas or improve the surface, and we confirm the amount with you.

Sod, seed or artificial turf: which should I choose?

Sod gives the fastest natural result, hydroseed costs less on large areas, and artificial turf suits shade, wear or watering limits. We look at your sun, use and budget before recommending.

Can sod be installed in summer?

Yes. Warm-season sod roots well in heat, but it needs diligent daily watering at first and must follow your city's watering rules.
