Ice & Water Shield Installation, done with precision

Ice and water shield is a self-adhering waterproof membrane applied directly to the deck in the spots most likely to leak. In North Texas that is mostly not about ice dams, but about wind-driven rain, hail-damaged shingles, and tricky details. We apply it in valleys, along eaves, around chimneys and skylights, and at roof penetrations, then install the shingles over it. The membrane seals around nails, so a leak is less likely at those fastener holes. It costs more than standard underlayment, so it is used where it counts instead of across the whole roof, unless you ask for that. It supports a good roof system, but it does not replace proper flashing and shingle installation.

What's included

  • Valley, eave, and penetration coverage
  • Clean, primed deck application
  • Overlap of membrane with underlayment
  • Integration with flashing details

Good for

  • Homes with complex roofs and many valleys
  • Owners who want extra protection at leak-prone spots

Common questions about ice & water shield installation

Do I need it across the whole roof?

Usually not. It is most useful at valleys, eaves, and penetrations, but we can discuss more coverage.

Does it replace flashing?

No. It works alongside flashing and shingles.

What damages roofs most in North Texas?

Hail and wind, followed by heat and age. Storm damage can be hard to see from the ground, which is why an inspection is useful.

Can impact-resistant shingles lower my insurance cost?

They may qualify for a discount with some insurers. Ask your insurer, since we cannot promise one.
