Xeriscaping, done with precision
Xeriscaping is landscaping built around low water use, and it fits North Texas well given summer heat and watering restrictions. It does not mean a yard full of gravel. We use drought-tolerant plants, such as Texas sage, yucca, agave, salvia, ornamental grasses and native perennials, grouped by water need, with mulch or rock to hold moisture. We improve soil where needed, set up drip irrigation where it helps, and shrink or remove high-water turf in areas that are hard to maintain. Plants still need regular water while they establish, usually the first year. After that they get by on much less. We aim for a look that is full and intentional, not bare, and we discuss realistic expectations before starting.

Common questions about xeriscaping

Is it zero maintenance?
No. It needs far less water and upkeep, but still needs trimming, weeding and the occasional refresh.
