Irrigation Valve Troubleshooting, done with precision

Each sprinkler zone has a valve, usually in a box below grade, and valves are among the most common failure points. Symptoms are a zone that never turns on, one that will not shut off, weak flow, or constant seeping at the heads. We open the valve boxes, check for water, damaged wires and splices, test the solenoid and look at the diaphragm for debris or wear. Many fixes are small, such as cleaning a diaphragm, replacing a solenoid or repairing a corroded wire splice with waterproof connectors. Roots, mud and insects in valve boxes cause trouble, and ground movement in clay can stress buried fittings. If the valve itself must be replaced, we do so where the work is straightforward. We don't take on whole manifold rebuilds.

Common questions about irrigation valve troubleshooting

How do I find my valve boxes?

They are usually green lids set in the lawn or beds near the house. We locate them as part of the visit.

Why is my zone always on?

Often debris keeps the valve open or the diaphragm is worn. Cleaning or replacing the parts typically fixes it.

How do I know if I have a drainage problem?

Signs include puddles that last more than a day or two after rain, soggy turf, eroded beds, water against the foundation, and plants dying in low spots. We can look and tell you the cause.

Do you repair irrigation systems?

Yes. We troubleshoot and repair sprinkler and drip systems, including heads, valves and controllers. We do not offer full system design or install.
