Downspout Drainage Extensions, done with precision

Downspouts concentrate an enormous amount of roof water in one spot. If that water lands next to the house, it can saturate clay soil, wash out beds and send water under a slab. A downspout extension carries it away. Options include above-ground flexible or rigid extensions, buried solid pipe that discharges downhill with a pop-up emitter, or a connection to a drain line or dry creek bed. We lay out the route so water exits well away from the foundation, on ground that slopes away, and not onto a neighbor's property or a walk. Buried lines are less visible and easier to mow around, but they cost more and need a clear outlet. We do not repair gutters themselves.

Common questions about downspout drainage extensions

How far should the water go?

Several feet at minimum, and more if the ground is flat. We look at your slope and available outlet.

Will a buried line clog?

It can with leaves and debris. Gutter guards or a periodic flush help, and we point out the cleanout access.

How do I know if I have a drainage problem?

Signs include puddles that last more than a day or two after rain, soggy turf, eroded beds, water against the foundation, and plants dying in low spots. We can look and tell you the cause.

Do you repair irrigation systems?

Yes. We troubleshoot and repair sprinkler and drip systems, including heads, valves and controllers. We do not offer full system design or install.
